E=hf=hc/… was final performance of technological theatre masterclass (instructor Erik Alalooga) held in Tartu University Viljandi Culture Academy in spring 2014. Students of theatre technical arts concentrated focuspoint to real situation waiting for them after graduating.
Exploring two different interview books of Estonian theatre directors came out quite astonishing line. In these interviews most of theatre directors strongly confess importance of light-desing in performance process. But same time they do not trust young light designers. Some examples:
“… In my opinion light-design is even more important than set-design. I have never collaborated with light designers. I always design ligts myself…”
“… I have never worked with light-designer. Therefore i´ve got no idea about it…”
“… Light is very important and that´s why i have always done it by myself…”
Thise cynic attitude by theatre directors dominates despite of academical education and professional skills and knowledge of new-generation of light designers. Educated specialists are pushed aside and light design is mostly done by amateurs. E=hf=hc/… was courageous and critical statement against their upcoming employers.
Action was performed three times during student festival Kultuuridessant in Viljandi, Tartu and Tallinn.
